MEET YOUR CANDIDATES
FOR THE OFFICE OF PRESIDENT:
She starting clogging in 1983. A group was clogging on a wagon through her local town and passing out fliers for clogging lessons. She was hooked at the get go. After a number of years traveling more than 50 miles round trip, she started teaching a group in her home town . She taught Beginning Clogging as well as Intermediate and some advanced . Her top priority was to keep the old time clogging alive by teaching Traditional Style clogging that included sets and runs and to always finish each performance with a Patriotic number to honor all the men and women in the armed forces., those currently serving and those who have served plus those who fought and died. She holds this very dear because her cousin was the first serviceman to be killed in Viet Nam from the county where she and he lived.
The name she chose for the group was the Teays River Cloggers, which was named after the underground river that flowed under her hometown.
Wanting to become a better teacher, she decided to take the CCI course offered by CLOG. At that time, it was a very long in-depth process, which took at least two years or longer to complete. She grew as a person and as an instructor besides making many new clogging friends from around the US. She received her CCI certificate November 27, 1998 at the National Clogging Convention.
During the 2002 Midwest Clogging Championship, she received the ”Margaret Hoover Memorial Award for Clogging Excellence” from Jeff Driggs. She has attended many of the National Clogging Conventions, as well as teaching at many workshops in Ohio and Kentucky. She afforded the opportunity for many of her cloggers to travel across the US and abroad through The All Ohio Cloggers that was under the direction of Lee Adams. She was Co-director of the All Ohio Youth.
